Overview. • Community Care Network (CCN) contracts are awarded by the Department of Veterans. Affairs (VA) to help ensure health care services are available for Veterans who are unable to receive care at a VA medical facility. • VA determines the eligibility of Veterans to receive care from a community provider.
What is the difference between VA CCN and TriWest?
General VA refers Veterans to community providers based on MISSION ACT criteria, which are broader than PC3 criteria. TriWest is the primary customer service contact for Veterans. Customer Service VA is the primary customer service contact for Veterans using CCN.
How does VA CCN work?
The VA Community Care Network (CCN) is VA’s direct link with community providers to ensure Veterans receive timely, high-quality care. CCN uses industry-standard approaches and guidelines to administer services, pay for services promptly, and manage the network to its full potential.
What is the difference between CCN and PC3?
CCN is being deployed in a phased approach by VA medical facilities across the country. Once fully implemented, CCN will replace the Patient-Centered Community Care (PC3) network as the preferred national network VA uses to purchase care for Veterans in their community.
What is TriWest CCN?
TriWest is VA’s third party administrator for CCN Regions 4 and 5. CCN covers all U.S. states and territories with an established set of regional boundaries aligned to state borders to provide local flexibility and increased access to care.
When did TriWest switch to optum?
Urgent Care/Retail Location Benefit Optum took over urgent care benefit responsibilities in Region 1 on March 18, 2020. TriWest will maintain the urgent care network in CCN Region 4.
Who is eligible for VA CCN?
Veteran needs a service that is not available at VA (e.g., maternity care, IVF). 2. Veteran resides in a U.S. state or territory without a full-service VA medical facility (Alaska, Hawaii, New Hampshire, and the U.S. territories of Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
What are PC3 claims?
PC3 is intended to provide eligible Veterans with access to medical care when services are not readily available or accessible at their local VA medical facility.
Are TRICARE and TriWest the same?
TriWest Healthcare Alliance was founded in 1996 to provide active duty Service members, retirees, and their families access to quality health care under the Department of Defense TRICARE program.
What insurance does the VA use?
If you’re enrolled in TRICARE or the Veterans health care program, you’re considered covered under the health care law. You don’t have to make any changes. If you don’t have veterans or other health coverage, you can use the Marketplace to enroll in a plan.
