What is a VX mount?
As of early 2019, Advanced VX mounts include a dual saddle plate that accommodates both CG-5 and CGE-style dovetail. Switching between the two saddle plates is as simple as moving the hand knobs into a separate set of holes. You can use an Advanced VX mount with virtually any optical tube within its weight limit.
What is a CGE mount?
Clearance – CGE Pro mounts support their tubes at a single contact point allowing the tube to move freely around its polar axis without making contact with the telescope’s mount. Software features allow the user to set the mounts slew limits to guaranty safe motion.
How does all star polar alignment work?
Here’s how it works. Using the telescope’s Sync function, the mount will point to and center a bright star with a high degree of accuracy. Once centered, the mount will point the telescope to the exact position that the star should be if the mount was precisely polar-aligned.
How do you use the Celestron polar finder scope?
Using it is a three-step process. First, install your finder in the polar axis. Then take off the polar housing cap and turn the declination axis until the hole allowing light through the polar axis is not blocked. Next, you need to align the optical axis of the finderscope with the mechanical polar axis of the mount.
How long does polar alignment last?
Accurate polar alignment is essential for all types of long exposure astrophotography from wide-angle nightscapes, to high magnification deep-space imaging. Once you’ve got the basics down, the entire polar alignment process can be done in less than 10 minutes.
Do you have to polar align every time?
It seems to me that once the wedge is polar aligned, there should be no further need for adjustment unless it has been disturbed. Any variation between sessions should be due to the lack of precision in relocating the mount on the wedge and the comparatively low precision of the the Evo mount gear train.
Can you polar align in daytime?
This alignment method works any time of day, unless the Sun is very high overhead.
